Distortion

In this lesson we will cover some common distortion techniques. All kinds of signal modulation or processing can be said to generate distortion, but here we mean here a class of effects associated with the names overdrive or fuzz. We will look at some different digital processing techniques that can be used to generate such effects. The simplest types of digital distortion. like hard clipping, mirror and wrap, will generate quite harsh or sterile distortion effects. Other techniques, like the modified tanh() and slope based delays can generate more organically sounding distortion effects.
